A Tourist from Saudi Arabia, Ayman Sayed Elshahany has been killed instantly by an Elephant in Murchison Falls National Park. According to the statement released on Tuesday by the Uganda Wildlife Authority, the deceased and three of his colleagues were travelling from Masindi transiting through the park to Arua, they stopped along the way and Ayman got out of the car and an Elephant charged at him, killing him instantly.
Uganda Wildlife Authority’s communication manager, Mr Bashir Hangi noted that the matter has been reported to Pakwach police station and investigations are going on.
“We are saddened by this incident and we convey our deepest sympathies to the deceased’s family and friends, we will work closely with police to ensure that this matter is investigated fully,” says Hangi.
He added that the Authority is reviewing its safety protocols making sure such incident does not happen again.
