Metropolitan Leronymos Elected New Archbishop of Kampala Orthodox Church

His Emminence Metropolitan Leronymos Muzeeyi has been elected as the new Archbishop of the Orthodox Church of Kampala.

This was announced on Wednesday by the Orthodox church having been the end of the Holy Synod of the patriarchate of Alexandria which was between 10th and 12th of January according to the church norms.

This comes after the Orthodox Church losing one of it’s leaders Archbishop, Metropolitan Yona Lwanga who passed on in September last year.

“Metropolitan Leronymos of Mwanza has been elected new Archbishop of Holy Metropolis of Kampala,” says the orthodox church.

Metropolitan Leronymos is a Ugandan national and has been serving as the Metropolitan of Mwanza and Exarch of western Tanzania.

He is the third Metropolitan to serve in the Kampala Orthodox Church, taking over the reigns of the late Archbishop Yona Lwanga who was the second, late Theodoros Nankyama was the first to lead having passed on in 1997.
