A Spanish correspondent working for Agence France Presse (AFP) in Uganda has died in a fatal a road accident on Kampala-Gulu Highway in Northern Uganda.
Sadurni Sumaya, 33, died on Monday night together with her driver Thomas Mugisha, 42, after their vehicle Toyota Rav 4, Reg. No. UAS 597U collided with a FUSO truck, Reg. No. UAL 192U around Kiryandongo.
According to Traffic Police spokesperson ASP Faridah Nampiima, the accident happened at Chopelwo valley, in Kiryandongo District at around 8:30PM. Both Sumaya and her driver died on spot.
The bodies have been taken to Kiryandongo Hospital for postmortem checkup. By press time, Sumaya’s colleagues who are also foreign correspondents in Uganda were still struggling to break the news to her family relatives in Spain.
